Steps Toward Healing: My Journey in Physiotherapy

I often feel blessed to have found my place in this ever-growing and meaningful field of physiotherapy. My journey began back in 2018, at a time when I was confused and unsure about my path. My dream was always to become a heart specialist, but life had other plans for me. After taking a one-year break from studies, a gap that turned out to be a blessing in disguise, I found myself stepping into the world of physiotherapy. While I may not have become a cardiologist, that pause gave me clarity, direction, and the motivation to pursue a career that has changed my life forever.

At first, I didn’t know much about this profession. Like many people in my community, I only had a limited awareness of physiotherapy. I remember how often local folks would use the term “Kasrat Vada.” It may sound simple, but it holds great meaning, because movement and exercise are essential for everyone, whether a person is healthy, recovering from illness, or living with a condition. Over time, I discovered that physiotherapy is not just about exercises, it is about restoring hope, strength, and independence.

As I immersed myself in my studies, I developed strong practical skills and gained valuable experiences. From handling clinics alone to doing home visits, giving my best, and improving every single day has always been my goal. The more I worked with people, the more I realized how powerful physiotherapy can be in transforming lives. Our role extends across every field of medicine, and in many ways, physiotherapy is as vital and booming as any other branch of healthcare.

What I love most is the joy that comes from witnessing progress in my clients. Their smiles, their words of appreciation, and the blessings I receive, especially from older patients, continue to fuel my motivation. One of my proudest moments was when a client praised my work in front of my parents. That sense of pride and fulfilment is something I will always carry with me.

But the most beautiful part of this journey is watching transformation happen. To see a bedridden client take their first steps again, to watch them climb stairs, or become independent enough to care for themselves, it’s hard to put that feeling into words. It proves that with dedication, skill, and compassion, we can truly change someone’s life.

Physiotherapy has given me more than just a career, it has given me purpose. It has taught me the beauty of resilience, the power of healing, and the deep satisfaction of making a difference in someone’s journey. For all of this, I will always remain grateful.
